변화되어감으로 새 삶과 희망을 찾아 정상적이고 행복한 가정을 이루어 갈 수 있게

안내해 드리는 것을 목적으로 하고 있습니다.

Care Addiction Recovery and Prevention Center is a non Profit Organization founded to help build healthy Korean-American Communities.

현대사회의 병적인 특징은 한마디로 중독이라고 할 수 있습니다. 특히, 미주 한인교포사회에 만연 되어있는 도박, 마약, 알코올, 인터넷중독은 이제 그 위험수위를 넘어서서 각종 범죄와 자살, 그리고 가정폭력으로 이어지면서 교포사회의 큰 암적존재로 자리잡고 있습니다. 그럼에도 불구하고 수치를 드러내기를 꺼려하는 한국 문화의 영향으로 문제를 드러내 놓고 해결하기 보다는 감추거나 덮어두려는 관습으로 인하여 중독을 조기에 치유하지 못하고 더욱 심각하게 만들고 있으며, 중독치유와 예방을 위한 개인과 지역사회의 무지는 이를 더욱 심화시키고 있는 실정입니다.

One of the characteristics of modern society is addiction. Specifically, the addiction among Korean-Americans is so serious that they can destroy families by suicide, crime, and family violence. Korean-Americans keep the addiction problem secret because of “the Shame Culture of Koreans.” It makes early prevention or cure for the addiction difficult. Making matters worse, the ignorance of individuals and of some Korean-American society is deepening the problem.

현재, 인터넷게임 중독은 자녀를 둔 모든 가정의 문제로 다가오고 있는 한편, 마리화나 판매가 조만간 가주에서 합법화되면 마약류의 확산은 청소년을 중심으로 급속화되리라 여겨집니다. 또한 라스베가스 카지노의 규모를 능가하는 미주 각지역의 인디언 카지노와 수많은 카드 도박장들은 한인을 비롯한 아시안들을 그 주 고객으로 삼은 지 오래이며, 그로인한 가정파괴와 사회문제 또한 어제 오늘의 일이 아닙니다. 알코올은 이미 우리 사회 깊숙히 들어와 있으며, 그 중독 연령이 계속 낮아지고 있음도 매우 우려되는 사실입니다.

Almost every family which has teen-agers struggles with internet addiction. On the other hand, if the sale of Marijuana is legalized in California, spread of drugs to teenagers will be accelerated. Moreover, the numbers and scales of Indian Casinos in California far surpass those in Las Vegas. One of the main customers of the casinos has been Korean-Americans and other Asians for quite some time. The problems of the addictions in our community are nothing new at all. The age level of the addiction is getting younger and younger which concerns all of us.

케어 중독치유 예방협회의 발기인들은 지난 2008년부터 도박중독에 대한 치유와 예방을 돕기 위한 세미나와 모임을 로스앤젤레스, 애틀랜타, 샌프란시스코에서 매년 개최하여 왔습니다. 그동안 세미나에 참석자하신 분들의 요청과 필요에 따라 2009년 11월에 케어 중독치유 예방협회를 발족하게 되었으며, 중독중에서도 가장 심각한 인터넷중독, 마약중독, 알코올중독, 도박중독의 예방과 치유에 힘쓰기로 하였습니다.

The founders of CARE Addiction Recovery and prevention center have been providing seminars and meetings to help the prevention and cure of gambling addiction in San Jose, Oakland, Los Angeles, San Francisco as well as Atlanta annually since 2008. Due to the request and need by the seminar and meeting participants, CARE Addiction Recovery and Prevention Center was launched in November, 2009. Our center has been focusing on the cure and prevention of the most serious addictions such as drug, alcohol, and gambling addiction.
